ミユビシギを観察したくて、河原子海岸に行ってきました。
彼らは波打ち際で餌を探すのですが、決して波はかぶりたくはないようで、ひたすらちょこまか動き回る様子が楽しいです。

ぎりぎりで寄ってくる波から逃げて、みんな一斉に反転する様子がかわいいですね。
でもたまに、波から逃げるのに失敗することもあるようです。
彼らは海岸をちょっとずつ移動しながら採餌し続けるのですが、少しずつ先回りして待って観察したり動画を撮ったりしていると、あっというまに1時間以上たってしまいます。
とはいえ、河原子や大洗ではせいぜい10羽程度の群れなので、一度数百羽くらいの大群を眺めてみたいなと思っています。

鳥見目的で冬に河原子に行ったのはまだ3回だけですが、思ってるより寒くないです。
去年12月にあった探鳥会では、海沿いだし防寒ばっちりで臨んだら暑かったです。
天気次第とも言えますが、植生を見ると常緑樹が多くて今も葉っぱがたくさん茂っているので、さわ野杜周辺より温暖な気候なんでしょうね。
で、ミユビシギの季節移動の件ですが、手元の図鑑によると、基本的に旅鳥（日本より北で繁殖し、日本より南で越冬する）、一部は冬鳥、らしいです。
なので、春以降はいなくなると思います。
というわけで、日程調整して近いうちに行きましょう！
